A few film and music recommendations.
What I did on my summer vacation.
Film.
12 and Holding. 5 stars.
Anabella Sciorra
Marcia DeBonis
Conor Donovan
Zoe Wiezenbaum
Jesse Camacho
“After his twin brother is accidentally killed by vengeful bullies, a disfigured 12-year old boy and his friends face the harsh realities of death, hormones, and family dysfunction.” – IMDB
So many layers in this film that after the end you’ll want to watch it again for the brilliant acting and great story telling.
The Good Life (2007). 3 stars.
Zooey Deschanel, Mark Webber, Harry Dean Stanton, Bill Paxton.
A little choppy and unexplained. 90 minute look into one boy’s whirlwind life.
Brother to Brother (2004). 3.5 stars.
A drama that looks back on the Harlem Renaissance from the perspective of an elderly, black writer who meets a gay teenager in a New York homeless shelter. -IMDB.com
music.
(song) – featured on “12 and Holding” soundtrack
(album) “Volume One” – She&Him
Artist collaboration: Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward. Listen for free at Lala.com.
Television.
In Plain Sight (USA). 5 stars. Sunday. 10/9C.
The Listener (NBC). 1 star. Thursdays 10/9C.

And finally.
I’ve been finishing off the last of our Holiday 2008 Cokes, half a year after the holiday in question. Ah, well. I like the design actually.
Stole the coke picture from this blog. (Actually from Google images, but this is the blog they pulled from and whom I am citing.)
